How to cook fluffy rice

Things to prepare

  • NIPPON RICE×1
  • Water
    220-230ml
  • A small pot
  • A wooden spatula

Directions

Put one pack of NIPPON RICE in a small pot and add 220-230ml of water. (No need to rinse the rice since it is pre-washed.)

Without a lid, cook it over a high heat. Once it boils, stir it with a wooden spatula.

After stirring, turn down the heat and simmer for 15 minutes.

Turn off the heat after 15 minutes, and steam it with a lid. This steaming process makes the rice fluffy and tender.

About Akitakomachi

Akitakomachi is a brand of rice that represents Akita Prefecture, located in the Tohoku region (the north-eastern area) in Japan. It is named after Ono no Komachi, a Japanese waka poet in the 9th century who was from Akita. The grain of Akitakomachi is a little smaller and tastes relatively light. Since it is the cross between “Koshihikari”, with high levels of stickiness and umami (glutamate) and “Ou No.292”, with high productivity and a good resistance to cold weather, Akitakomachi is said to be well balanced in terms of taste and texture. Its mild taste goes really well with a variety of foods. The cooked grain becomes fluffy, looks as if it is lustrous and stimulates your appetite.
Akitakomachi is produced under strict quality control in Ōgata-mura, a village which was developed especially for rice-harvesting and thus has the highest yield of rice in Akita. You can enjoy the tender but chewy texture and odorous flavor of well-reputed Akitakomachi. You can be sure of its safety guaranteed by our annual radioactive examination.
